Ighalo, Iwobi hit Super Eagles camp as Rohr promises to take Seychelles game seriously

Super Eagles's coach, Gernot Rohr has said he and his charges will take the game against Seychelles on Friday very seriously, even though it is a dead rubber.

Twenty three players have been invited to camp and Rohr insists they must take every game seriously in spite of its status.

We are approaching it like a strong match because you know that it is not easy to win a game today. There are no small teams anymore so we have to be well prepared,” Rohr said.

“Seychelles drew against South Africa, so they are able to play well and they are already in camp since the beginning of March.

We are preparing already for the AFCON and this is the last game of the qualifiers so it is a very important game,” Gernot Rohr said.

By Monday evening, seven players had arrived in camp- Odion Ighalo, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Ikouwem Udo, Valentine Ozonwafor, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Daniel Akpeyi.

We have some new players. Ola Aina was injured from the match yesterday (Saturday). I checked with Imama who knows the local players and Effiong (Ndifreke) from Akwa United has joined us. Now we have four local players- Udoh, the captain of the Under twenty team, of course, Ezenwa and Valentine, a tall defender.

So it will be interesting to see the new players. It is already a competition for our list for AFCON,” Rohr said.

Nigeria has already qualified for the AFCON and the game against Seychelles is just for formality except that the Eagles will want to end the qualifying race in a high.
