Home boys will hold the lines while foreign based will lead in Tunisia, says Amapakabo

Coach of Nigeria's U23 national team, Imama Amapakabor has given insight into how he will structure his team as they go into this week's AFCON qualifier against Libya in Tunisia.

Imama told NigerianFootballer.com that he will make up the defence line with players from the Nigeria Professional Football League while the attackers will be built from players in Europe.

I do not know what you all call the Dream Team because I do not know what the Nigerian dream is, but I see this team as the B Team of the Super Eagles and my boss (Gernot Rohr) is here and I try to let him know whatever we are doing. Whatever I do is in conjunction with him. We put our heads together all the time to see what best we can do,” Amapakabo told NigerianFootballer.com.

“It's a defense line made up of strictly the home-based players and an offensive team made up of strictly our players from Europe. So it is the responsibility of the home-based players to hold forth for us while the foreign-based too...”

Imama explained that the response to call up to the camp of the team was more favourable with players based abroad than those based in Nigeria.

We were able to put a team together in three weeks that will give Nigeria good representation.

We drew up a list of players that we wanted to come into camp but unfortunately, up till last weekend we were having problems with the home lads.

We are fortunate that we have been able to call up some players from Europe and the response has been favorable.”

Fifteen players and officials of the team left Nigeria on Monday for Bergandan, Tunisia for the first leg of the encounter against Libya.

Eight foreign-based players will join them in Tunisia. The team is made up of twelve home-based players and eleven foreign-based.
