Club Chairmen explain stance on Giwa

Acting Secretary of the Association of premier league club chairmen and Managers (club Owners), Alloy Chukwuemeka has explained why they rejected the newly inaugurated league committee set up by the Chris Giwa led NFF.

Chukwuemeka told that the Association rejected the League committee because they were not consulted and as such runs contrary to their position.

“We were patiently waiting for the expiration of the tenure of the LMC in two months’ time, after which an election is expected to usher in a substantive League board when they heard the news of yet another faction of LMC,” Chukwuemeka said.

“We believe strongly in the provisions of FIFA and NFF statutes, and would not turn around to act in the contrary simply because of an offer of a strange Greek gift.”

On the NFF Crisis, Chukwuemeka cautioned all the factions to shield their Sword and imbibe the spirit of peaceful resolution of the problems in line with the relevant statutes that guide football Administration and as sanctioned by FIFA.

Clubs suspended

The leadership of the Association had previously slammed an indefinite suspension on 3 of its member-clubs namely Nembe City FC, FC Taraba and Crown FC from all activities of the Association with immediate effect.

According to a statement by the Club Owners signed by the Ag. Chairman Issac Danladi and the Ag. Secretary Alloy Chukwuemeka, the suspension order also extends to the persons of Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, Alh. Fatai Olayinka and Mr Tijani Babangida respectively, for flaunting the directives of the Association and being involved in anti- association activities.

The affected member- clubs disregarded the directive of the Club Owners by accepting membership of an Interim League committee which contradicted with the position and stand of the Association.

Meanwhile Club Owners expressed appreciation to 3 of its members Isaac Danladi( Nasarawa utd) Chief Okey Ibe (Heartland) and Alh. Babangida Little(Kano Pillars) for their courage and good comradeship in rejecting membership of the said committee and for their obedience to the Association's directive.

Babangida bemoans Club Owners suspension

Meanwhile, chairman of FC Taraba, Tijani Babaginda has expressed surprise with the action of the club owners.

Reacting to the suspension, Babangida wondered what he had done to deserve a suspension from the body, stressing that as far as he knows he did not contravene any of the laid down rule of the association to deserve a suspension.

He maintained that as a citizen of Nigeria the constitution allows him to associate with whoever he chooses to without incurring the wrath of anybody.

“I am still at a loss as to why they said they have suspended me and the other persons. I have not in any way gone against their laid down rules that I know of, so I am still waiting to know why I am been suspended,” Babangida said.

The former Super Eagles international stressed that he will serve in the committee as long as his service is needed as he does not have anything against Chris Giwa and he expect that his friends and associates should respect his position.

“The other day some people wrote that I was arrested by men from the EFCC for assisting Giwa in embezzling some funds. This is the extent these people can go to fight me just because I accepted to work for Giwa. It has gone to show their desperation and prove that their motive for this struggle is absolutely bad."
