Dedevbo blames players for Germany loss

Head coach of Nigeria U-20 women team the Falconets, Peter Dedevbo attributes the country's loss in the final of the FIFA U20 World Cup to technical indiscipline on the part of the players.

Nigeria on Monday morning lost 1-0 to Germany in the final of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup.

Dedevbo says the Falconets played their best but lost out for their inability to convert their chances to goals.

"We missed out in the first half, there were many chances were created but the team failed to convert them. I must admit the girls played well and the Germans too. I lost the match out of technical indiscipline on the part of players. It is a lesson for them to learn to grab opportunities as they come,” Dedevbo said.

The coach who is yet to address the players after the loss said his team had progressed very well in the competition beating England, New Zealand, Korea DPR, Korea Republic and a draw against Mexico.

"I commend them for their spirit of team work. They did well but the Germans took their luck. I don’t want them to take it hard on themselves. They should take the corrections and move ahead. I will address them later, I want them to calm down first,” Dedevbo said.
