Keshi: Eagles will return to Brazil

Super Eagles head coach, Stephen Keshi, though disappointed at Nigeria’s ouster from the Confederations Cup has declared that they will return to Brazil next year.

Keshi then declared that he knows exactly what to do while appealing to Nigerians to forgive the team for the less than average performance at the tournament and promised that the team will come good in the World Cup qualifiers.

“We want to come back here (Brazil) next year and make an impact. This is a dress rehearsal and I can assure that the Super Eagles will be among the top nations when the Brazil 2014 World Cup starts,” he said.

The Big Boss as he is also called cited injuries to key players as one factor that depleted his side in Brazil.

“I can’t imagine that my top striker Emmanuel Emenike will miss some of the goals that we missed and even Ogenyi Onazi was sorely missed,” Keshi said.

“Victor Moses would have ruined any team here and of course several other players that should have been here could not make it due to injuries, one of them being United States based Bright Dike.”

Keshi also revealed that he has fresh options for the national team when the team resumes for the final World Cup qualifier match against Malawi in September.

Nigeria need to avoid defeat against Malawi at home to move on to the next stage of the FIFA 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers.

Against Spain, Nigeria needed an outright win to have any realistic chance of progressing to the semi finals but a brace from Jordi Alba an a Fernando Torres header ensured the Eagles returned home empty handed.
