Nigeria Premier League clubs endorse violence free campaign

Ten Premier League clubs over the weekend signed a document pledging a violence free season in the Nigeria Premier League that kicks off on Saturday, January 7, 2012.

After a presentation by national co-ordinator of 1 Game, the football without violence campaign, Philip Obaji, during the Annual General Meeting of the Nigeria Premier League, the clubs readily accepted to sign a pledge supporting non-violence in their League venues.

Philip Obaji told after the AGM that the campaign has been a resounding success and he hopes the group can take it to the next level.

“Coming to Yenagoa has been a success for us at 1 Game and I believe with the clubs signing this pledge I believe we are in for a violence free season in 2012,” Obaji said.

First to sign the document was Dominic Iorfa, chairman of Lobi Stars, followed by Mutui Adepoju of Shooting Stars Sports Club.

Other clubs who signed the document are Rangers, Kano Pillars, Sunshine Stars, Kaduna United, Heartland, Niger Tornadoes, Warri Wolves and Bukola Babes
