Nigeria’s Olympic Football team on Saturday defeated its Ghana’s Black Meteors by 3-1 in the first leg final round qualifier for the All Africa games.

The Nigerians came from a goal down in the first half to beat Ghana in a very competitive encounter.

The fiercely contested encounter began with both teams battling for midfield supremacy as Nigeria’s Nosa Igiebor, Obiora Nwankwo and Eneje Otekpa faced Daniel Addo, Daniel Opare and Samuel Inkoom.

After several lost chances by both sides in a tension soaked encounter, Nigeria’s defense line was punished for a momentary loss of concentration and poor marking as Rabiu Mohammed connected a well delivered corner kick to put the Meteors ahead in the 45th min.

On resumption of the second Half, Nigeria took the game to the Ghanaians and in the 51st minute Nosa Igiebor (In Pic) drew level for the home side.

Nine minutes later Nnamdi Oduamadi who thrilled the fans with his dribbles and quick step-overs dashed in from the left of the 18 box round off Jonathan Mensah, who brought him down inside the box for a penalty which was clinically converted by Nosa Igiebor in the 61st minute.

Edet Ibok made it three in the 82nd minute when he stepped forward for a corner kick but ended up jabbing the ball into the net after two rebounds and saves from goal keeper, Daniel Agyei.

The Nigerian side will now move to Lagos on Sunday to begin camping for the return leg game against Ghana in a fortnight.
