Eguavoen: “I respect Ghana”

After seeing his lads come from a goal down to beat the Black meteors of Ghana, Austina Eguavoen says his team had to dig deep to get victory.

“We knew from the onset that it was not going to be an easy game. But we would have easily won the game 5-1 if we had converted our chances. Ghana played well; they are a team I have always respected. But we thank God that my boys showed character and determination coming out in the second half to score three goals,” Eguavoen stated after the game.

The Ghanians had gone ahead at the brink of half time as Rabiu Mohammed punished the defense line of the Dream Team for poor marking.

Two goals from Nosa Igiebor and one from Edet Ibok ensured the Coach Eguavoen tutored side won the game 3-1.

Nigeria have so far won all the matches played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium beating, Equitorial Guinea, Liberia, Tanzania and now Ghana.

“We would continue to work hard because hard work pays. Having won the game against Ghana, the victory puts us in a good position. All we need do is score one goal in Ghana and we will be through,” Cerezo declared.
