Yobo: Nigerians must get behind team

Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo says Nigerians must get behind the team on Sunday against Ethiopia.

Yobo told naijafootball247.com that Nigerians must understand that they now have a new Super Eagles team and they must get behind them so the team win for them.

“I know we played a friendly game against Sierra Leone three weeks ago but this is basically a new team that Nigerians must support,” Yobo said.

“There are lots of new players in the team and others who are having their first competitive game with us so we must be patient with them and know that it is not about how many goals we score but about us winning on Sunday.”

Fans at the stadium who watched the Eagles train on Wednesday had chanted five, six and in some instances seven indicating how many goals they expected the national team to score against the Ethiopians and Yobo simply does not agree with that.

“We are not going to over run them so I suggest Nigerians not set their expectations too high. We want to win and we will win on Sunday but lets us slow down on the number of goals we are expected to score.”
