Adegoke scared to score against Shooting Stars

Dolphins FC full back; Mutui Adegoke says he will not celebrate if he scores against Shooting Stars in Ibadan on Sunday.

Adegoke who joined Dolphins last season from Lobi Stars says he still shudders when he remembers what happened the last time he scored against Shooting Stars.

He said he was beaten up severely by fans of the club for daring to score against them in Ibadan.

“You know I played for Shooting Stars. In fact that is my home town club but some years back while I was with Enyimba we came to Ibadan and played a 3-3 draw against Shooting,” Adegoke said.

“In that match I scored the second goal for Enyimba and that angered the fans so I was beaten up severely after the match. I can never forget the beating I received in the hands of the Shooting Stars fans,” he said.

Adegoke says he believes he was beaten up because of the way he celebrated the goal against his former club and has decided to turn a new leaf.

Asked who he wants to win the game on Sunday, Adegoke was noncommittal in his response.

“I love Shooting Stars because they are my home town club but I now play for Dolphins so I will only say I want the better side on the day to win. If Dolphins win okay and if Shooting Stars win there will be no problem but I will certainly give my best.

“However, if I get a chance to score I won’t be thinking of how I was beaten up last time. I will play to score but if I score I will not celebrate because that is what caused my problem the last time when I was at Enyimba.

“It’s a good homecoming for me but I do not want to be beaten up again,” Adegoke said.
When both sides met in the League last year in Ibadan, it ended 1-1. However Shooting Stars play their home games this season at Abeokuta.
